'You Provide They Decide'

The less we pressure our kids to eat, the more likely they are to come to new food on their own terms without the bribery and tears.

Some days they’ll reach for the salad and some days not, but we go with their appetite, not ours. Kids are very good at knowing when they’ve eaten enough, we don’t want them to lose that inbuilt skill that’ll set them up for life!

In the words of fussy eating expert Claire Potter from Getting the Little Blighters to Eat, we can simply ‘Dish up and shut up!’ It’s far calmer for both sides.

Parent’s role:
Provide the ‘what’, ‘when’ and ‘where

Kid’s role:
Decide ‘which’ food they will eat from your offering and ‘how much’.

Do you follow the ‘You provide they decide’ approach at the table? If not, why not?!
