🍉 School Fruit & Vegetable Workshop 🍉

‘I love you, Mrs Willis!’ called out one little boy on his way back to class after our fruit and vegetable workshop in Chorleywood last week. My heart actually melted at his words and seeing the happiness on his face, which then set off other pupils saying the same and high-fiving me on the way out.

I didn’t quite realise how much I loved working with kids till I started these workshops. Their enthusiasm, creativity and vivid imaginations...it was all a total joy to watch (I also think I got very lucky with the school too as the kids were impeccable from start to finish 👍).

The aim of the session was to give the children the chance to make faces from the fruit and veg, to have fun, get messy and get used to new tastes and textures.

After much grating, chopping and spiralising 😸, we sat back down to consolidate our findings, most kids had tried something new and were buzzing about it.

I asked them what they all wanted for Christmas and I had a choral of answers of ‘a salad spinner!’ just brilliant ha ....! Who knew what joy this little utensil could bring. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I had a lovely message from the deputy headteacher saying:
‘I’ve had such lovely feedback and a few pics of the children utterly beaming!’ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Another teacher said she had never seen one particular child touch any vegetables before and it was a huge surprise to see him so involved and trying little pieces as he went. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
